- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang to easily lift the brownies out later.
- To prepare the brownie batter, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl. Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
- Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt until just combined. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Spread the brownie batter evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan.
- To make the banana bread batter, mash the ripe bananas in a separate medium bowl. Whisk in the melted butter, egg, and brown sugar until smooth.
- In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add these dry ingredients to the wet banana mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Dollop the banana bread batter over the brownie batter. Use a knife to gently swirl the two batters together to create a marbled effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Allow the Banana Bread Brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Notes
Use Very Ripe Bananas: For the best flavor and moisture, use bananas with plenty of brown spots.
Cool Completely: Allowing the brownies to cool fully is crucial for achieving a fudgy texture and clean slices.
