Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 lb lean ground beef 90/10 lean is recommended
  • 1/2 cup diced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For Assembly
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls 8 oz can
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for topping

Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Baking Sheet

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Drain the excess grease thoroughly.
  3. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture cool for 5-10 minutes, then stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles. Place about 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the wide end of each triangle.
  5. Roll up each crescent from the wide end to the point, pinching the seams to seal. Arrange the rollups on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and garlic powder. Brush the mixture over the tops of the rollups and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the rollups are golden brown and bubbling. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Tip 1: Ensure the ground beef is thoroughly drained to prevent the crescent rolls from becoming soggy.
Tip 2: Let the meat filling cool down before adding the cheese and assembling the rollups. This keeps the dough from getting too soft and hard to work with.
Tip 3: For extra flavor, add a small piece of a dill pickle slice into each rollup before baking.
