  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Equipment

  • 1 Medium Saucepan
  • 1 Whisk

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until no lumps remain.
  2. Slowly pour in the water while whisking continuously until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Place over medium heat and bring to a rolling boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. The syrup will thicken as it cooks.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Let the syrup cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The syrup will thicken as it cools.

Notes

For a Thicker Syrup: Simmer for a full 2-3 minutes. Remember, it will get much thicker once it's refrigerated.
Storage: Keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
