Ingredients

  • 4 (6-oz) salmon fillets skin on or off
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lemon zested and juiced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced for topping

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet
  • 1 Small Bowl
  • 1 Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with a paper towel and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Season both sides of the salmon fillets generously with salt and black pepper.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, chopped fresh dill, minced garlic, lemon zest, and lemon juice until well combined.
  5. Spoon the lemon dill butter mixture evenly over the tops of the salmon fillets.
  6. Top each fillet with a few thin slices of lemon.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 135-140°F in the thickest part.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional fresh dill if desired.

Notes

Tip 1: Don't overcook the salmon! Check it at the 12-minute mark to ensure it stays moist and tender.
Tip 2: For extra flavor, you can let the salmon marinate in the lemon dill butter for 15-20 minutes before baking.
Tip 3: Leftover salmon is delicious cold and can be flaked into salads or pasta.
