Method
- Add the entire package of Oreos to a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs. Reserve 1 cup of crumbs for the topping. Mix the remaining crumbs with melted butter and press firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in half (8 ounces) of the thawed Cool Whip. Spread this mixture over the Oreo crust.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk for about 2 minutes, until it begins to thicken.
- Pour the thickened pudding over the cream cheese layer and spread evenly. Let it set for 5 minutes. Spread the remaining Cool Whip over the pudding.
- Sprinkle the reserved 1 cup of Oreo crumbs evenly over the top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight. Decorate with gummy worms before serving.
Notes
Use Room Temperature Cream Cheese: This is critical for a smooth, non-lumpy filling.
Chill Thoroughly: Don't rush the chilling process! An overnight chill yields the best texture and flavor.
Customize It: Try using chocolate pudding for a richer version or serve in individual cups for parties.
