Ingredients
  

For the Skillet Cookie
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter melted
  • 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg Yolk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 cup Chocolate Chips a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolate
  • 2 tbsp Valentine's Sprinkles

  • 1 6 or 8-inch Cast-Iron Skillet
  • 2 Mixing Bowls

Method
 

  1. First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 6-inch or 8-inch cast-iron skillet with butter.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  3. In a separate small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix! Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared skillet. Sprinkle the top with your Valentine's themed sprinkles. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set but still soft.
  6. Let the skillet cookie cool for about 5-10 minutes before serving. It will be very hot! Serve it warm, topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Don't Overbake: The key to a gooey center is pulling the cookie from the oven when the middle still looks slightly underdone.
Use Cast-Iron: A cast-iron skillet provides the best heat distribution for crispy edges and a perfectly cooked center.
