Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 3 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 1.5 cups Whole Milk
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp Salt or to taste
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper or to taste

Equipment

  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Whisk

Method

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30-60 seconds. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  2. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Continue whisking as the sauce heats and thickens. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes until it coats the back of a spoon.
  3. Remove from heat. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Use immediately on your favorite pizza or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

For the smoothest sauce, use freshly grated parmesan cheese as pre-shredded varieties can make the texture gritty.
If the sauce is too thick, whisk in a little more milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
