- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30-60 seconds. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Continue whisking as the sauce heats and thickens. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes until it coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Use immediately on your favorite pizza or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Notes
For the smoothest sauce, use freshly grated parmesan cheese as pre-shredded varieties can make the texture gritty.
